En av viktigaste positionerna på fotbollsplanen, den offensiva linjespelare, kan vara värd guld och lika ovanlig att hitta. Som en del av lagbygget för 2024 har Black Knights och HC Sam Eisenstadt kastat metspöt utanför Sveriges gränser och fått napp i Storbritannien av irländska Offensiva linjespelaren Sam Potter.
”I have chosen to sign with the black knights as it is clearly the best step for me to get better as a player as I’m able to learn from some of the best players and coaches in Europe. But also I want to be apart of a team that is competitive and hungry to win and I feel the black knights ticks all the boxes.”
Sam kommer närmast från skollaget University of Nottingham som är mitt uppe i säsong där man just nu är obesegrade med 5 – 0 i matcher. Innan tiden i Nottingham har Sam spelat i Belfast med Belfast Knights.
”I started playing back in 2019 with the Belfast knights after I saw an Ad on Facebook for the Belfast knights recruiting an U19 team. I had a friend on the team at the time so he introduced me and I instantly fell in love with the sport.”
Headcoach Sam Eisenstadt ser stor potential i den unga linjespelaren:
”Sam is a young and talented player out of the UK. While I was recruiting him I could feel the love and passion he has for the game. He will do a great job providing talent for us on the OL and help add to the great team environment we are building here. I am looking forward to having Sam on our team in 2024.”
Bortsett från den fysiska naturen av amerikans fotboll är kulturen en viktig del av ett amerikansk fotbollslag. HC Sam Eisenstad lägger mycket vikt i att ha en bra kultur, något som faller rätt hos spelaren Sam Potter:
”I love football as it’s one of the most physically demanding sports while also being an incredibly mental sport where anything can happen. I also love the culture of family within the sport and how teammates turn to brothers extremely quickly.”
Sam kommer in med höga mål för laget där mästerskapsguld är högst upp på listan:
”I’m most exited about trying to bring the national championship back to Örebro, It’s a great team with a great fan base that deserve to see a trophy back in the city. I’m also exited about how competitive the Superserien is and I can’t wait to get out there and win some football games.”
Sam ansluter till laget i mars, i tid för säsongspremiär som är beräknad i April!
