Josh Murphy tillbaka på planen!

Efter säsongen 2020 valde Josh Murphy att ta en paus i sin fotbollskarriär efter att ha spelat sen 5 års ålder. Andra delar av livet prioriterades och kroppen behövde återhämta sig efter 24 år med sporten. Nu meddelar han att han säsongen 2022 väljer att sätta på sig skydden och ställa sig på planen igen

Josh spelade för första gången med Black Knights 2015 efter att ha spenderat de sista åren av college på Washington State University. Planen var att efter high school läsa och spela på Eastern Washington University, men efter att han slet sönder hälsenan i stavhopp under sista året fick planerna ändras om. Drömmen om att spela fotboll i NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) levde kvar och Murphy började läsa på Feather River College. Efter en bra första säsong tvingades han dock byta skola på grund av de enorma kostnaderna som studier i en annan stat innebar.

”Heading into my second season at Feather River, I was determined to make a bigger impact and get my name out to more NCAA schools. Unfortunately, I was not able to continue because of high out of state tuition costs and a lack of financial aid. Because of this, I had to drop out and forfeit my second season. My last few years of college were spent at Washington State University where I finished my degree in 2015. I was hoping to walk on to the football team there, but was not allowed due to NCAA transfer rules”

Murphy är en talangfull och smart spelare som har visat sig viktig för både Örebro Black Knights defensiv och Special Teams, som visade sig när han säsongen 2018 belönades med Black Knights pris för MVP på defense. Förutom en kortare sejour i GFL-laget Allgäu Comets har han varit Black Knights trogen sedan han anslöt 2015. Efter ett år på sidlinjen ser både Murphy och laget fram emot att få se honom på planen igen.

”We are looking forward to having Josh Murphy back after he decided to sit out the 2021 season to let his body and mind rest and recover. He is an exceptional football player. He is strong, fast, and instinctive and these are qualities you cannot teach. He is always giving his maximum effort and when your best players are doing that it is contagious. He has been playing for a long time and I expect him to make a significant impact for us this season.”
